Editorial Policy
Accuracy and sourcing
Factual claims about permits, codes, safety, and efficiency are sourced to primary authorities — federal and state agencies, official building departments, and recognized standards bodies — and linked on the page. Where sources conflict or vary by jurisdiction, we say so rather than flattening the difference.
Estimates and models
Cost figures are editorial estimates unless explicitly attributed to a source. Estimates are produced by documented models with published assumptions and version numbers (see methodology). We never present modeled figures as quotes, survey results, or government statistics.
Review and freshness
Every guide shows its last review date, which reflects an actual review — not an automatic timestamp. Pages with stale, time-sensitive information (permit rules, incentive programs) are corrected or clearly flagged.
AI assistance
We use software, including AI tools, in research and drafting. Everything published passes through the same standard regardless of how a draft began: claims verified against primary sources, estimates tied to documented models, and content reviewed before indexing. We do not mass-publish unreviewed generated pages.
Advertising independence
HomeLintel earns revenue from advertising. Advertisers do not influence what we cover, what our models estimate, or what we recommend. Ads are visually distinct from content and never imitate calculators, navigation, or source links.
